A tractor-trailer overturned at a rubble dump in Mürzzuschlag, Upper Styria, on Wednesday: the 61-year-old driver was trapped and had to be rescued through the windshield.
The tractor-trailer was driven by a 61-year-old from the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district: the man was dumping rubble on a higher landfill when the three left wheels sank and skidded at around 8:30 a.m.
The tractor’s center of gravity shifted to the left, causing it to tip over and lie on its side. The driver was seriously injured in the accident and was unable to free himself from the cab.
Rescue of stabilized wounded
The Mürzzuschlag fire brigade arrived with 16 members: they removed the windshield of the truck with a reciprocating saw. The injured man was then stabilized by the Red Cross and finally rescued with the help of a spider board. The East Styrian was taken to the Bruck State Hospital.
