Once again, unknown fraudsters were able to rob an elderly citizen of his money: this time an 80-year-old from Flachgau was hit. He received a phone call from a so-called prosecutor who enticed him with a fairy tale about his granddaughter’s accident.
A serious traffic accident, one dead and involved: the granddaughter. A fraudster posing as a public prosecutor told this story during a telephone conversation to the 80-year-old from Salzburg. She described that the granddaughter was now in prison and that a bail of 25,000 euros in gold had to be paid so that she could be released.
Two money transfers in the parking lot
The 80-year-old, probably full of worries, took the money and handed it over to the fraudster. The next day, the unknown criminal called again and demanded gold again: this time for 30,000 euros. The police report continued that money was handed over in a public parking lot.
Because the whole thing seemed a bit strange to him, the old man reported it to the police. And after investigation filed a complaint. The damage: 55,000 euros.
