At the worst possible moment, a motorcyclist in Kaindorf, eastern Styria, wanted to overtake a 15-year-old moped rider. The teenager swerved and a serious collision occurred.
A 53-year-old from the Weiz district was riding his motorcycle on the L413 from Kaindorf towards Dienersdorf on Wednesday around 16:00. He overtook a 15-year-old moped rider just as he was about to turn left onto a path. The collision occurred despite an emergency stop.
No alcohol test possible
The motorcyclist was seriously injured and, after treatment by the emergency doctor, was flown to the Graz LKH with the C12 rescue helicopter. The youngster from the Hartberg-Fürtenfeld district was first rescued to the LKH Hartberg and then to the children’s clinic in Graz. Both drivers were so badly injured that a breath test could not be performed.
The highway remained closed at the scene of the accident for two hours. The Kaindorf fire department was on duty.
