The US Vice President met with the Israeli Prime Minister after his meeting with Joe Biden. Harris assures that “images of dead children” and “desperately hungry people fleeing” must not be produced.
Kamala HarrisVice President of the United States, has met Benjamin NetanyahuPrime Minister of Israel, to whom he has expressed his support ‘unwavering commitment’ to the State of Israelwhile he asked for a ceasefire in Gaza Strip.
Harris, who did not attend Netanyahu’s belligerent speech to the US Congress, had a “frank and constructive meeting” with the Israeli prime minister as part of her official visit to the United States. “I told him that I will always ensure that Israel can defend itselfI have always had an unwavering commitment to the existence of the State of Israel, its security and the people of Israel. I have said it many times, but it is worth repeating. “Israel has the right to defend itself, and how it does so is important,” he stressed.
The Vice President remembered and described the American citizens who were trapped in the Strip Hamas of a “brutal regime” that committed “horrific acts of sexual violence” on October 7.
After expressing her support for Netanyahu, Harris assured that she would “deep concern about the magnitude of human suffering in Gaza,” where “too many innocent civilians” have been killed.
The vice president has assured that the situation in Gaza is “devastating” and that “images of dead children” and “desperately hungry people fleeing” must not be produced. She has therefore urged Netanyahu to reach a ceasefire agreement with Hamas, with the aim of freeing the hostages and providing humanitarian aid.
“The first phase of the agreement would involve a complete ceasefire, including the withdrawal of the Israeli army from population centers in Gaza. The second phase would see the complete withdrawal of the Israeli army from Gaza, marking a permanent end to hostilities. It’s time for this war to end“, added.
Netanyahu made this statement shortly before his meeting with Harris with the president Joe Biden at the White House, and afterwards both leaders met with relatives of hostages still held by Hamas.
