Israel accuses Hezbollah, which denies responsibility

Israeli army spokesman Dainel Hagari has assured that “they are already preparing the response”.

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz blamed Hezbollah for the attack in a television interview: “There is no doubt that Hezbollah has crossed all the red lines,” he warned, adding that “we are facing an all-out war.”

The Lebanese government has condemned all attacks on civilians and called for a cessation of hostilities on all fronts. The Lebanese executive has stressed that “attacks against civilians constitute a flagrant violation of international law and are contrary to the principles of humanity.”

For his part, the spokesperson for the UN Mission in Lebanon (FINL), Andrea Tenenti, confirmed that they are “in contact with the parties to try to reduce tensions.”

The border between Israel and Lebanon is experiencing its highest spike in tension since 2006, with an intense firefight since October that has already left 500 people dead on the Lebanese side, most of whom are from Hezbollah.

The Golan Heights is an area that Israel captured from Syria during the Six-Day War (1967) and the Yom Kippur War (1973) and effectively annexed in 1981, in a move not recognized by the international community.
