Terrible news from Italy: A young Austrian woman was traveling with her husband and one-year-old child in South Tyrol when a serious accident occurred on the Brenner motorway near the northern Italian city of Trento. The 24-year-old woman was killed in the accident.
The mother, her partner and the one-year-old child were driving south near the airport and collided with a parked truck as they entered a rest area. The woman in the passenger seat died at the scene of the accident and the man behind the wheel was seriously injured.
One-year-old child survives accident
The one-year-old child was also injured, police said. They assume the driver fell asleep at the wheel. The man was taken to Trento hospital with serious injuries. Further information about the identity of the fatal victim and the injured was not immediately available.
Traffic jams between Bolzano and Rovereto
During the rescue work, the motorway remained closed. As a result, there were long traffic jams between Bolzano South and Rovereto North.
