Harris quickly responded, calling the Republican candidate’s attacks “divisive and disrespectful.”
The former President of the United States and Republican candidate, Donald Trumphas reignited the controversy. On this occasion, he has suggested that his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, ““It suddenly went black” to win votes from African Americans.
In a tense interview Speaking at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) convention in Chicago, Trump said Vice President Harris “was only promoting her Indian heritage” years ago.
“I didn’t know she was black until she became black a few years ago and wants to be known as black. Is it one or the other? I respect both, but she clearly doesn’t respect either,” Trump said, calling into question the identity race of the vice president, who is the daughter of a Jamaican father and an Indian mother and who promotes both ethnicities in her public life.
‘Division and lack of respect’
Harris responded quickly. He crossed out “division and lack of respect” the attacks of the Republican candidate.
At a historically black student association event held in Houston, Texas, the vice president said that ‘The American people deserve better’“When we organize, mountains move. When we organize, nations change. And when we vote, we make history,” he said during his speech.
