Autopsy Results – Muckendorf Case: Girl Dies of Suffocation

Date:

After the terrible event on Wednesday afternoon, in which a mother and her two children were found dead in a house in the Tulln district (Lower Austria), new details came to light on Thursday afternoon: According to information from “Krone”, the daughters – five and eight years old – were said to have suffocated. Only the 29-year-old had injuries from a gun…

The new details about the case in the community of Muckendorf-Wipfing were confirmed late Thursday afternoon by the autopsy results of the two children. The mother’s suicide is considered a possibility, but further investigation is essential.

Determining the shooting hand should provide information
According to Stefan Pfandler, head of the Lower Austrian State Criminal Police, there is currently “no concrete evidence of other people involved.” However, such a scenario “cannot be ignored yet.” Clarification could result in the determination of the shooting hand, but the findings from this could take several days. In any case, a pistol was seized in the area.

The mother would have legally owned these and other weapons. According to information from “Krone” she was a hunter and the father of the two children is a police officer.

“Have to put puzzle together”
Further interviews from the area are still pending. “We have to put the puzzle together,” Pfandler said. A decision on one variant would be “too early and questionable.”

On Thursday, autopsies were performed on the two girls – five and eight years old. According to information from “Krone”, the children died of suffocation.

The investigation at the crime scene continues. Until now, the police have concentrated mainly on the immediate vicinity of the crime, but now other rooms in the house are also being investigated.

Bodies discovered in bedroom
Blaring sirens and flashing lights disrupted the idyllic atmosphere in the small community on Wednesday. When the 29-year-old mother didn’t show up for work, an acquaintance became concerned.

The woman then allegedly contacted the father of the two girls, who had a key to the house. He also allegedly discovered the three bodies in an upstairs bedroom.
