Record rainfall in Vienna led to several hundred fire brigade operations on Saturday afternoon. In one case, a bus even had to be lifted: a woman fell at the bus stop on Gunoldstrasse and was pushed by the water under a stationary bus…
The incident took place around 16:45 in Vienna-Döbling. The woman could not get out on her own, but was lucky that passers-by noticed her in time before bus 10A left. They warned the driver about the fallen victim and the emergency services were called.

Taken to hospital
The fire department was eventually able to free the fallen victim from her situation by lifting the bus. The rescue service treated the 35-year-old woman and took her to the hospital in critical condition.
As reported, according to Ubimet, more than 110 liters of rain fell per square meter. Since the beginning of the measurements, there has never been so much precipitation in the federal capital. The train underpass in the affected Gunoldstrasse was also flooded.
Hardly any rain in Favoriten
The urban area was hit unevenly by the storm. At the Unterlaa weather station in Vienna-Favoriten, for example, only 0.3 liters of precipitation per square meter was measured.
