Fears for a mountain climber in Tyrol’s Zillertal: After checking into a refuge on Thursday, the man set off on a trek to the summit. The mountaineer never returned. A search has so far been fruitless.
On the holiday, shortly before 10 p.m., the landlord of the Friesenberghaus in Finkenberg reported the hiker missing, the police reported. The mountaineer checked into the hut around 2 p.m. and then set off on a summit hike.
The climber never returned. After the hut owner raised the alarm, he and three other people went looking for the man.
Search cancelled during the night
The mountain rescue team with dogs, alpine police and police helicopters also started a search, which was unsuccessful on Friday. The search was interrupted during the night.
