The President of the United States has said that choosing Kamala Harris as vice president was “the best decision” of his career. Harris, for her part, thanked Biden for his “historic leadership” during his first appearance at the Democratic Convention.

“We have to keep the Senate. We have to win back the House. And most importantly, we have to defeat Donald Trump and elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz as president and vice president,” he stressed.
During his speech at the Democratic Convention that runs through Thursday in Chicago, Biden described this the election of Harris as vice president as “the best decision” of his career.
“I have five months left in my presidency. I have a lot to do and I intend to do it. Serving you as president has been an honor. I love this job, but I love my country even more. And those who say I’m angry with those who told me to stop the race… That’s not true,” the US president told a big ovation which he received at the United Center.
As Biden concluded his speech, Harris, after an hour-long intermission, took the stage with her husband Douglas Emhoff and first lady Jill Biden to congratulate the president. Biden then seized the moment to take Harris’ hand and raise their hands together to applause from the crowd.
This was not Harris’ first intervention at the Democratic Convention, however. Hours earlier, the vice president had delivered a surprising first appearance to pay tribute to the president’s “historic leadership.”
