A forestry worker died Thursday after a tree fell on him on a mountain in the Guipuzcoa town of Ataun, the Basque Ministry of Security said.
The accident happened minutes before 2:40 p.m. in a mountain area near Lizarrusti, in Ataun.
The Gipuzkoa firefighters, the Ertzaintza crews and the health services visited the scene of the accident, but could do nothing for the life of the worker, whose death was confirmed on the spot.
Gipuzkoa firefighters have been in charge of moving the body of the deceased worker through the mountains to the road so that it can be evacuated by funeral services.
