Attack on couple – convict released again after violent act

A homeowner (57) caught a man (21) breaking into the basement of an apartment building in Wörgl. What she didn’t expect was to meet a well-known Turkish man (21) with a criminal record who did not shy away from using mass violence.

According to the police report, on Friday at around 6:45 a.m., a 21-year-old Turkish citizen, who was known to the police and had a previous conviction, entered an apartment building in Wörgl and went to the basement of the building. There, he used physical force to break open a basement compartment with the intention of stealing valuables.

Thief strangled woman (57)
The man was caught red-handed by the cellar owner, a 57-year-old Hungarian. The 21-year-old asked the woman to hand over her mobile phone. After the 57-year-old refused to comply, the suspect grabbed the woman by the neck, strangled her and tried to take her mobile phone.

The man attacked with punches
After the attacked woman screamed loudly for help several times, her husband, a 56-year-old Hungarian citizen, eventually came to her aid. While trying to drag the suspect away from his wife, the attacker finally let go of the woman and violently punched the 56-year-old in the face several times. The 21-year-old then chased the 57-year-old up the stairs and grabbed her mobile phone. Shortly afterwards, he fled to the city center of Wörgl.

Search successful
Shortly after, the suspect was arrested by a police patrol during a local house search and temporarily detained. The 56-year-old was seriously injured as a result of the attack.

Despite burglary, robbery and assault
After conducting all interviews and reporting and describing the facts of the case to the Innsbruck Public Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect’s release was ordered.
