A 54-year-old had a fatal accident while climbing the Hohe Wand: the Viennese fell into the depths before the eyes of his friend. All help came too late for him.
A 54-year-old’s climb on the Hohe Wand in the Neunkirchen district ended in an extremely tragic way. The Viennese set off on Saturday morning with a friend towards Köberlgrat. About halfway along the route, the man suddenly slipped for unknown reasons and fell about 50 metres in front of his climbing partner. His friend immediately called 911.
Emergency services alerted
The Alpine police and mountain rescue services then rushed to the scene of the accident. However, the emergency services that were called could only determine that the climber was dead. All help came too late for him.
