Big shock for a family in Lower Austria: a pram with a 13-month-old boy in it fell into the Pittenbach in Bad Erlach. The grandmother (70) jumped after the offspring and the child had to be resuscitated…
Horrific scenes unfolded in Bad Erlach on Tuesday afternoon. The 70-year-old immediately jumped into the current to save her grandson. But in the end, two attentive passers-by had to pull the lady and the pram out of the water and resuscitate the 13-month-old child.
“Probably no damage”
According to initial information, the toddler was flown to a clinic in Vienna. The grandmother was also taken to hospital with injuries, police confirmed on Wednesday. The child is doing well again, “it is unlikely that any damage was sustained,” said police spokesman Raimund Schwaigerlehner. The grandmother suffered severe shocks and abrasions.
An attack of weakness led to an accident
But how could such an accident happen in the first place? According to Schwaigerlehner, the woman may have had an attack of weakness around 4:30 p.m. while walking on the sidewalk next to the Pittenbach. As a result, the stroller rolled over an embankment into the water and floated away.
