A week and a half ago, four criminals escaped from a closed clinic in Bavaria, Germany, by taking a staff member hostage. A few days ago, a fugitive was arrested in eastern Styria. It has now emerged that an accomplice (28) is also in hiding here. The authorities are urging caution.
The news caused a stir far beyond Bavaria’s borders last Saturday: four criminals were able to escape from the Straubing am Lerchenhaid district hospital. Two of the men were in the clinic for drug offenses and two for theft, a police spokesman said. All four were ordered to withdraw.
Geisel suffered injuries to his face
The four patients initially threatened a clinic employee, attacked him and forced themselves to free themselves with the hostage at the entrance door. “The man was immediately released after the main entrance was opened,” authorities said. The employee suffered facial injuries and the four men initially fled on foot.
After almost a week, a hostage-taker, a 28-year-old German, was arrested in eastern Styria on Friday. He was about to get into a car. A more than happy coincidence, because the police were actually on the trail of his accomplice. Because the German Moritz Kühlborn, of the same age, was supposed to have a connection with Styria. The investigators did not want to give any further details.
The perpetrator is suspected of being in Styria
The 28-year-old Kühlborn weighs about 85 kilograms and is 1.86 meters tall. He has a slim, athletic build, a shaved head, a goatee and tattoos on both arms and hands and on his left calf. He is said to have recently worn a white T-shirt and long black sports pants, among other things.
Whether it concerns fugitive Denis Eler (31) from Bosnia and Kosova It is unclear whether Zeqir Beqiri (27) is in Styria. But the authorities do not think so. The State Police (investigation) is working closely with its German colleagues on this matter. “Information from the population is checked daily. In addition to recording the crime scene, interrogations are carried out, various video material is evaluated and the investigation into possible contacts and contact addresses, also in the family environment, is being intensified,” said a police spokesman.
It is believed that fugitives do not want to undergo treatment
The Bavarian justice system has requested pre-trial detention for all escaped criminals. The reason for this is that the alleged hostage-takers are not considered willing to receive therapy. The Regensburg judiciary has confirmed the request for pre-trial detention. The man arrested in eastern Styria is currently in the Graz-Jakomini prison. His extradition has already been requested.
The German authorities emphasize that the three refugees should be considered dangerous. The police therefore ask you not to pick up hitchhikers or approach people.
If you see anything suspicious, call the police on emergency number 133.
