From the regional court – Drunken Serb threatened to set fire to snack bar

Date:

A 43-year-old first scared the employee of a sausage stand in Bregenz, then he rebelled against police officers. On Wednesday, all those involved met again in the courtroom.

Judge Lisa Pfeifer repeatedly warns the 43-year-old defendant to listen carefully and not be so irritable. But he does not think about making his statements in a moderate tone and so the trial becomes more of a shouting match between the judge, the prosecutor and the defendant. He is accused of dangerous threats and resistance to state authority.

The incident happened in early April in Bregenz. Feeling provoked by the operation of a snack stand, he repeatedly threatened her: “I’ll kill you and your boss and set the kiosk on fire.” When the police arrived a short time later, he also became aggressive towards two officers. While threatening to bite one, he threatened to hit the other. However, the defendant could only remember the resistance to state authority. “Yes, the police didn’t lie. That’s all true. I was drunk and I admit everything. I’m an alcoholic.”

Snack employee spat on
As for the dangerous threat to the sausage stand worker, his recollections are diametrically opposed to those of the victim, who states: “A customer before him had a larger order. Because he was taking too long, he became abusive. I still remained calm and continued with my work. He then spat on me several times. When I said I would call my boss and the police, he threatened to kill me and him and set the stand on fire.”

Because Mrs Rat ultimately assumes that the defendant expressed dissatisfaction about this incident, she finds him guilty only of resisting state authority and sentences the Serb to a fine of 1,120 euros.
