At the age of 86, a man with his daughter climbed the 1,975-meter Sarstein in Upper Austria. In the descent it became too much for him. He had to be rescued by helicopter.
On Wednesday, the 86-year-old hiked with his daughter to the 1,975-meter high Sarstein. For the descent, the two chose the route via the Rotengraben back to Bad Goisern. Just below the Sarsteinalm at about 1460 meters, the 86-year-old lost his strength and called his daughter for help. “Our shock team reached the person in need after a short time and prepared everything for an aerial rescue,” says the Bad Goisern mountain rescue service.

The emergency doctor helicopter “Martin 1” was unable to perform the rescue due to high winds, so the police helicopter “Libelle Salzburg” came to the rescue. Due to the higher performance of the helicopter, it was finally able to perform the rescue with rope.
Don’t underestimate the heat
“Summer has arrived and the days are getting warm again. Remember to bring plenty of fluids on your mountain trips and also to wear a hat!” warn the mountain rescuers.
