Death never sleeps: At 3:24 a.m., the FF Hof near Mondsee was alerted to a traffic accident. A driver had crashed into a crash barrier with his car. The car flew into the forest, hit a trunk and overturned. The resident was thrown out and died.
The Hof bei Mondsee volunteer fire brigade was alerted to a traffic accident in the Höribach district at 3:24 a.m. on Thursday, reports Christian Stoxreiter of the Mondsee fire brigade command.
Operational Manager Hannes Wesenauer described the situation upon arrival as follows: “A car driving from Mondsee towards Thalgau hit the guardrail, took off and jumped into the adjacent forest. Several trees were blown over and the vehicle overturned when it hit a trunk. The driver was thrown from the vehicle and was fatally injured!”
Came to rest on the roof
The accident vehicle was thrown out of the forest and came to a stop on the roof of the road. After the driver’s airbag and the passenger airbag were activated in the overturned vehicle, the Hof fire brigade team searched the area around the accident site for a possible passenger.
No other person found
No other person was found during the search. Because oil and diesel were leaking from the badly deformed car, the Mondsee fire department’s oil truck was called. The fire department pumped out the remaining contents of the tank and removed the wreckage from the road and the forest. 31 emergency services from the fire department, police, Red Cross and an emergency doctor were deployed.
