The Israeli army says it has killed a Hamas leader in the West Bank. Wassen Hazem was driving a vehicle through the area. Two other Hamas members were also in the car. Emergency services killed them as well.
Wassen Hazem is said to have planned and carried out attacks. According to the Israeli army, the attack was carried out using an airplane. The men died when they tried to escape from the vehicle. Explosives and weapons were subsequently found in the car.
Eyewitnesses reported that a drone was fired at the car. The Ministry of Health in Ramallah confirmed three deaths in the city.
The mission in Tulkarem ended after two days
The two-day operation in Tulkarem, considered a stronghold of Palestinian militants in the West Bank, has now ended. According to Palestinian sources, houses, roads, water and electricity lines in the city have been destroyed. The Israeli army justified the operation with the significantly increased number of attacks on Israelis. At the same time, violence by extremist settlers in the West Bank has increased.
Since the Hamas massacre on October 7, 2023, 640 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli military operations, confrontations or their own attacks.
