Incredible accident in Schärding (Upper Austria): two construction workers were buried under rubble during renovation work on an old building on Tuesday morning. The search for the two continues.
Seven fire departments, police, rescue services and the Red Cross sniffer dog team were alerted to Schärding on Tuesday morning. According to information from the Schärding fire department, a 20 square meter ceiling may have collapsed during renovation work on an old, listed building, burying two construction workers.
Danger of building collapse
The search for the two buried victims is in full swing. Initially, the enormous dust formation may have made the operation more difficult. According to information from “Krone”, the fire brigade then had to interrupt the search for the missing persons because the building was apparently in acute danger of collapsing. Later in the morning, the house was checked by a structural engineer – during this time the search was suspended for safety reasons.
The “Krone” reports on further developments.
