He has demanded that the jobs be adjusted because there is a ‘lack of staff’ in some activities.
The Euskaltel works council has shown its “total” rejection of the voluntary ERE proposed by MasOrange, which would have consequences for the Basque operator, and has demanded an adjustment of the jobs, given that there is a “lack of staff” in some activities.
MasOrange, a telecommunications company created from the merger of Orange and MásMóvil, has informed its staff this Tuesday of an ERE, of a voluntary nature, for up to 795 employees (it is not yet known from which sections), since there have been “organizational duplications” following the integration of the staff of Orange and MásMóvil.
This voluntary ERE will affect six companies in the group, such as Orange Espagne, Orange España Comunicaciones Fijas, Xfera Móviles, Lorca telecom Bidco, R Cable, Telecable and Euskatel, a Basque operator acquired by MásMóvil in 2021. In statements to Europa Press, the president of the Euskaltel works council, from the CCOO Euskadi union, Javier del Blanco, explained that they had been informed of that decision on Tuesday, but They have not yet broken down the impact this would have on Euskaltel.nor in the rest of the investments.
As specified, there is now a period of 15 days to set up the negotiating table and, once this is established, there will be a month to negotiate the terms of the dossier.
Javier del Blanco has shown his rejection of this ERE and recalled the “repeated promises of the past months” by MasOrange CEO Meinrad Spenger and top management “not to create an EUA.”
In his opinion, it is not “acceptable” to increase this EUA, because “lots of activity, we have positive results and what needs to happen is an adjustment in employment.”
As he explained, there are activities where there is a “lack of personnel” and therefore no ERE needs to be presented, but the jobs need to be “re-adapted”. ‘There needs to be a good distribution and good organizationwhich is usually missing in these types of movements,” he said.
