While transporting a wood gasification stove via the cellar stairs of a guesthouse in Ebenthal (Carinthia), the 800-kilo stove suddenly fell over. At that moment, not only a 36-year-old worker was standing on the stairs below, but also the 47-year-old innkeeper himself.
A 47-year-old wanted to heat his inn sustainably with a wood gasifier stove. An installation company supplied this, three employees would install it. “The 800-kilogram oven would be brought to the basement via the basement stairs,” the police reports. “Despite the fact that the oven was secured with a load strap, the oven became too heavy shortly before the first landing in the stairwell and fell against the concrete wall.”
36 year old prisoner
Tragically, a 36-year-old man was trapped, but the oven was still moving and caught the innkeeper, who was also standing on the stairs below. “Both men were seriously injured, the two other employees of the business immediately administered first aid,” police said.
“The fire brigades from Zell-Gurnitz and Ebenthal helped to rescue the injured, and the rescue team took them to the clinic and the AUKH Klagenfurt.” The oven was secured against further slipping.
