A 27-year-old paraglider pilot was hit by a gust of wind and crashed with his paraglider on Saturday afternoon immediately after take-off in East Tyrol. The local man was seriously injured.
Shortly after 12:00, the Austrian took off with his paraglider in the Kühbodentörl area as part of an event in the municipality of Amlach. “He ran a few steps forward and reached a height of three to four meters a short time later,” the police said.
Flew to the hospital
However, a gust of wind caused the right side of his umbrella to fold up slightly and he was driven into the slope on the right side. The 27-year-old could no longer prevent a fall and ended up in the block zone or in a rubble field. “He was seriously injured, was rescued from the emergency helicopter with a rope and flown to the Lienz district hospital,” the director said.
