Whether it’s a wild autodrome, crispy Langos or colorful hustle and bustle – the Stadlauer Kirtag is one of Vienna’s highlights every year in September. But now the folk festival was canceled at short notice.
Stadlauer Straße was originally supposed to be transformed into one of Vienna’s largest fairgrounds for the 28th time from 13 to 15 September. The Donaustädter Sport- und Kulturwochen association usually invites you to a three-day music programme on Stadlauer Straße, which has something to offer for every taste. But this year, things are unfortunately different. Wind gusts of up to 80 km/h have been forecast for the coming weekend.
Up to 80 km/h
Weather experts also expect rain showers and low temperatures of up to nine degrees, which is why the organizers decided to cancel the traditional festival at short notice.
“Unfortunately, we have to inform you that we are canceling the Stadlauer Kirtag due to weather and safety reasons!”, SPÖ Donaustadt district councilor Thomas Gollner explained on Facebook.
Safety first
According to the organizers, the safety of the guests is of course paramount. It is currently completely unclear whether the traditional festival can be moved.
