Up to 43 degrees expected – heat wave in France an “exceptional situation”

Date:

At the height of the heat wave in France, peak temperatures of up to 43 degrees are expected on Saturday. It can be assumed that absolute heat records would be broken, according to the weather service Météo France. “It is really an exceptional situation,” it sounds. Temperatures of 35 to 39 degrees were expected across the board. Meanwhile, half of Greece will remain rainy for now, with heat expected next week.

Due to the severe drought that has lasted for a long time, there was a high risk of forest fires in France and the fire brigade repeatedly went to the source of the fire in nature. From Sunday evening, storms are expected in France from the Atlantic coast, which will later affect other parts of the country. Locally, these storms can be accompanied by strong wind gusts and severe thunderstorms. The heat wave is coming to an end, which will only last longer in eastern France.

rain in Greece
In Greece it will rain in the north and west next weekend and there will be thunderstorms in some places. For example on the Peloponnese peninsula, which is popular with tourists, but also in the northern Greek port city of Thessaloniki. However, it remains warm in the rainy regions with temperatures around 27 degrees.

Holidaymakers on Crete and the Cyclades, on the other hand, can look forward to unclouded sun and temperatures of around 30 degrees. Meteorologists expect the heat wave over Western Europe to reach Greece – and then probably in a weaker version – by the middle of next week.
