“Poultry raven” in the middle of the city: Because they were causing all kinds of mischief and were keeping the neighbors awake with their crowing, the police had to “arrest” more than fifty roosters.
“Kikeriki!” Once again, officers from the Jennersdorf police station had to respond to an unusual case. More than fifty roosters, which were kept on a plot with a house, yard and garden in the city, had been causing trouble for months. The feathered ‘troublemakers’ were getting on the last nerves of the residents.
Roosters are very busy
Their crowing got under the (goose) skin. One rooster loudly announced to the other who was boss in the area. The clear message in hoarse poultry jargon: ‘These chickens are mine!’ brought the nearby city dwellers to the brink of despair. As if that wasn’t enough, the busy roosters haunted the neighboring buildings. Facades were damaged, ornamental flowers were dug up, well-kept gardens were plowed up.
Roosters are passed around
During the first “poultry raid” at the request of official veterinarian Michaela Labitsch, police officers caught more than a dozen roosters. They were given good places. When the police arrived again, the owner’s sister had already caught several roosters.
The executive branch did the rest. A total of 52 roosters were removed. “According to a ‘Krone’ report, callers came in who wanted to take over a rooster. Among them was a Styrian colleague. “All the roosters already had a permanent new place,” says an official.
Peace in the village
Peace has now returned to Jennersdorf. The neighbors breathe a sigh of relief, the feathered “bullies” are gone. Or better said, as the popular saying goes: In the settlement no rooster crows for the disturbers of the peace.
