Two locals in Tösens (Landeck district) had several guardian angels on Sunday evening. They heard smoke in their hunting lodge and saw fire hours later. Both ended up in hospital with suspected smoke inhalation.
The two young men went hunting in Tösens around 5:00 p.m. When they returned to the hut afterwards, they smelled smoke. They ventilated the hut and went to sleep in the room next door around 11:00 p.m.
Shortly after midnight came the shock: when checking the kitchen, one of the two noticed that there was heavy smoking in the kitchen. Behind the heat shield and some wainscoting, a smoldering fire had broken out. The two extinguished it with water.
Men ended up in hospital
The registered volunteer fire brigade Tösens checked the fire location with the thermal imaging camera, but did not have to take any further measures. Both men were taken by ambulance to the district hospital of Zams because they had probably inhaled smoke.
