Oscars release ‘official review’ in Will Smith slapping Chris Rock movie

Date:

Oscar organizers have said that an “official review” of Will Smith’s actions will take place after Chris Rock’s disqualification at the Oscars. The actress took the stage after Rock joked about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair loss.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said it “condemns” the actions of Smith, who later won the Academy Award for Best Actor after the 94th Film Awards. Smith rushed onto the stage and punched the comedian in front of a star-studded audience at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theater after Rock taunted him about His wife suffers from hair loss.

In a statement to the media on Monday (March 28), the Academy of Film said: “The Academy condemns Mr. Smith’s actions on last night’s show. We have formally initiated a formal review of the incident and will investigate further actions and consequences in accordance with our statutes, standards of conduct, and California law.”

Chat host Whoopi Goldberg, judge of the Oscars, said tonight that Smith will not be denied the award after the incident.

Speaking on his talk show The View, Goldberg said, “We’re not going to take his Oscar. I’m sure there will be consequences, but I don’t think there will be, especially since Chris said, ‘Listen, I don’t blame you.'”

“(Smith) messed up… overreacted, you made mistakes. I think he overreacted. He had a moment where he was…stopped. And you have all the pressure hoping to win and trying to keep your face.

“I understand that not everyone acts like we would like to be under pressure, some break up. Broke. I don’t know if they spoke up or apologized, I just know that sometimes you get to a certain point and act badly.”

Referring to Pinkett Smith’s hype, Rock said, “Jada, I’m looking forward to GI Jane 2,” which is why the actor opened his eyes. However, Smith climbed onto the stage and apparently knocked Rock until he returned to his seat and shouted twice, “Don’t read my wife’s name.” The controversy shocked and shocked Rocky as he tried to refresh the presentation of the Best Documentary category.

Smith apologized to the academy and his fellow nominees, but not Rock, for picking up a bolt and jokingly saying he “looks like a crazy dad.” He cried: “Richard Williams was a fierce defender of his family. I am called in my life to love people, protect people, and be a river for my people.

“I know, to do what we do, you have to be able to accept violence, you have to be able to make people talk crazy about you in this business. You have to be able to treat people with disrespect and you have to smile and act like it’s normal.

“I want to apologize to the academy, I want to apologize to all the candidates.” Art imitates life. I’m like a crazy father, Richard Williams said, but love makes you crazy.” He finished and said he hoped the academy would invite him to return in the future.
