Spain and US deny involvement in operation against Maduro government

Date:

The government of Pedro Sánchez has again demanded a “democratic and peaceful solution to the situation in Venezuela.” The US State Department, for its part, has denied any participation by Washington in a plot to overthrow the government of the Venezuelan president.

Spain has done this through its Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs denial that is involved in a “political destabilization operation” in Venezuela and has flatly rejected “any insinuation” in this regard, after the Venezuelan government insisted that Spain was “going to provide mercenaries” for an alleged operation led by the United States. It has also confirmed that the detained residents of Bilbao are not part of the National Intelligence Center (CNI) or any other state organization.

The families of the detainees have also denied the Venezuelan government’s version. “They were looking around,” they clarified. In any case, given the lack of information, the families Jose María Basoa and Andrés Martínez have been cautious and did not want to make any further statements.

The government of Pedro Sánchez has once again “democratic and peaceful solution to the situation in Venezuela”.

For its part, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs The United States has denied any involvement Washington is plotting to overthrow the government of the Venezuelan president.

“Any allegation that the United States is participating in a plot to overthrow Maduro is categorically false. The United States continues to support a democratic solution to the political crisis in Venezuela,” a spokesperson for the department said, according to ABC News.

The spokesperson also explained that Venezuelan authorities have detained “one U.S. soldier” and that they are aware of “unconfirmed information about two additional U.S. citizens detained in Venezuela.”
