Hot and getting hotter: In Feldkirch, Voralberg, the thermometer showed 31.7 degrees late Sunday morning. At many other stations, the 1930s have already been exceeded. However, temperatures will continue to rise. The warmest day of the year so far is approaching, with temperatures of up to 36 degrees Celsius forecast.
It will be hot again across the country on Sunday, but the highest temperatures are expected in the west of Austria. The thermometer was already rising in the provincial capitals, in the south it was still coolest in the morning – Graz and Klagenfurt still reported a pleasant 25 degrees.
Again, the dangers of the heat should be emphasized, as it puts a great strain on the cardiovascular system.
Tropical night in the Rhine valley
On Saturday there was already a lot of sweat in Austria with values up to 33 degrees. But even at night there was no strong cooling. According to the storm center, the Rhine Valley even had a tropical night. The temperatures did not drop below 20 degrees.
It will remain warm for the next few days, but thunderstorms are slowly starting to form.
