A client (36) threatened the deputy head of the AMS in Gmunden with a knife on Thursday afternoon because he wanted to go to prison due to an impending deportation. However, his stay there could last longer than desired. In the meantime, the AMS boss reports: Verbal attacks keep happening.
The AMS hostage-taker (36) from Gmunden, originally from Laakirchen, probably only wanted a winter home, but justice will probably not get by on that. The police have “only” reported him for serious coercion and deprivation of liberty. But the Wels public prosecutor’s office is now investigating section 102, which is ‘kidnapping by blackmail’. And the sentence is high, ten to twenty years.
Repeated attacks on the AMS
According to AMS boss Iris Schmidt, there are always verbal attacks on employees. They are specially trained for this. We understand that because customers are often in exceptional situations, drop out of the labor market or can no longer find their way back to working life and this leads to problems of a financial nature and also in their private lives: “There is also an internal crisis intervention team in case something unpleasant happens. And clients, such as those in Gmunden, who have problems, are usually cared for by department heads and vice presidents, as was the case here.”
As reported, the 36-year-old threatened the deputy head of department and employees with two knives at the employment agency in Gmunden on Thursday. His motive: 54,000 euros in debt and fear of deportation. Now he is in jail.
