A 74-year-old acted quickly when he noticed that the roof structure was on fire. Due to suspected smoke inhalation, he had to be taken to the Klagenfurt clinic.
On Saturday evening, a fire broke out in the roof of a residential building in The Hague in the municipality of Magdalensberg, which the residents themselves noticed.
A 74-year-old man tried to extinguish the fire with several buckets of water. In the meantime, a neighbor called the fire department. The fire department saw the column of smoke from far away.
The emergency services wore heavy respiratory protection and were able to completely extinguish the fire.
The 74-year-old had to receive first aid from the crew of the rescue helicopter C 11 and was then taken to the Klagenfurt clinic with suspected smoke inhalation.
The exact extent of the damage is not yet known, nor is the cause of the fire.
The FF Timenitz, FF Ottmanach, FF St. Thomas, FF Pischeldorf and the professional fire brigade of Klagenfurt were in action.
