The CAV tourist apartments registered 31,589 registrations in August, almost 21% more than in 2023

47.2% of visits and 43.4% of overnight stays in these accommodations corresponded to visitors of foreign origin. The average stay was 3.06 days, lower than that of August 2023, which was 3.19 days.

The tourist apartments of the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV) registered 31,589 registrations in August, giving rise to 96,710 overnight stays, which represents an increase of 20.9% and 16.1% respectively compared to the same month.

47.2% of visits and 43.4% of overnight stays in these accommodations corresponded to visitors of foreign origin, following annual increases of 38% and 28.8% respectively during the month of August.

The average stay was 3.06 days, lower than that of August 2023, which was 3.19 days. In Álava the average stay was 8.02 days, in Gipuzkoa 3.51 days and in Bizkaia 2.48 days.

Inns

As for the tourist hostels in the BAC, in August of this year there was a year-on-year increase in admissions of 15.2%, with a total of 39,102 generating 66,323 overnight stays. In Bizkaia there were 40,069 overnight stays, in Gipuzkoa 25,002 and in Álava 1,253.

Rural accommodation

In turn, the number of entries into rural accommodation was 25,471, up 5.4%, and the number of overnight stays was 94,663, up 3.7% compared to August 2023.

After a 2.1% decrease compared to August of the previous year, registrations of foreign origin account for 26.4% of total registrations in national accommodation provision. In the case of overnight stays, those of foreign origin represented 22.7% of the total, after a 1% increase compared to August 2023.

By area, admissions in Álava increased by 7.4%. On the contrary, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa registered decreases of 8.6% and 7.3% respectively.

In terms of overnight stays, in Gipuzkoa they grew by 1.2%, while in Álava there was an annual decrease in overnight stays of 12.9% and in Bizkaia by 6.9%, reported the Basque Institute of Statistics-Eustat.

The average stay in these types of establishments was 3.72 days, higher than the average stay of 3.65 days in the same month of 2023.

All these data are in line with the data that Eustat offered on its website last week hotelswhich received 426,038 tourists in August, which is 3.6% more than in the same month of 2023. More than half of them (53.4%) were foreigners.
