Tourists usually overestimate themselves when they travel through the mountains. In this case, a Tyrolean mountain lamb had obviously misjudged its own abilities. Hard to believe: the cute animal was stuck on a via ferrata in the Mieming Mountains.
At the end of the alpine season, which he spent with other animals around the Coburger hut above Ehrwald (Reutte district), the lamb naturally wanted to go high up on the snow-covered Tajakopf (2450 meters). The height of the hubris, the stubborn animal was on the local via ferrata (!).
But because he could no longer get back and forth below the summit, he missed the cattle drive. The lamb was discovered a few days later with a drone and the shepherd contacted the Ehrwald mountain rescue service. They promised immediate help to save the animal.
Lamb was already extremely exhausted
Mountain rescuer Riccardo Mizio recently set out on an extraordinary rescue mission, climbing the via ferrata to the young sheep, who was so exhausted that he let himself be caught without resistance.
Owner has announced donation
“I took him on my shoulders and descended 750 meters with the lamb over a gully,” says the mountain guide. It was safely handed over to the owner in Seebensee. She has announced a donation to the mountain rescue service.
