Beer Party top candidate Sophie Bliem argues in the ‘Krone’ interview why she is so hard to reach and why the press is not allowed to report on regular guest meetings. About a ‘party without politicians’, but with problems with message control.
The interview should have actually appeared on this site a month ago. We actually wanted to start our interview series with the top Carinthian candidates in the National Council elections with Sophie Bliem from the Beer Party – because she is the youngest at 28. However, it took more than a month for the Beer Party to respond to our calls and accept our invitation. Unlike politicians from other parties, we were still only able to conduct the interview by telephone. And unlike politicians from other parties, there are unfortunately no video interviews.
We asked Sophie Bliem why it is so difficult to reach someone from the Beer Party. And we also confronted them with the allegations against their party: Various media outlets accuse the Beer Party of engaging in message control – i.e. not allowing journalists to ask questions at official press events. The fact that even volunteer election workers have to sign confidentiality clauses has caused a stir in recent weeks. Party leader Dominik Wlazny doesn’t understand the excitement, and neither does his Carinthian top candidate. Feel free to take a look for yourself.
