A tourist submarine off the coast of Hurghada sank Thursday. Five holidaymakers from Russia – including two children – and probably an Egyptian crew member died, others were injured. A video recording now shows that the submarine perished within a few seconds.
The video, which, among others, posted Nexta on his X account (krone.at has decided not to show the placement) does not even take a half minute. First the Egyptian submarine can be seen and then the recording changes in the tourists. “Calm, calm, calm!” Calls when the panic spreads, shouting from children can be heard. Shortly thereafter the recording breaks down, only the sea is shown briefly.
Mother, daughter and son dead
As the media reported, the “Sindbad” marine perished within a few seconds. It must be crashed in a coral reef. Exactly for this, 45 Russian tourists wanted to dive. Five of them and an Egyptian did not survive the accident, including a 35-year-old woman, her 13-year-old daughter and her three-year-old son.
No more missing
“After the first information, most people were saved on board and brought to their hotels or hospitals in Hurghada,” said the Russian consulate. A total of 39 tourists were restored. So nobody missed. 21 ambulances have moved.

“We didn’t know what was going on initially. Then boats brought the first lifeless body back. The accident took place a kilometer from the Hurghada coast. The boat is from the Sindbad Submarines Company and was able to dive up to 25 meters deep.
Similar accident in November
It was not until last November that a tourist submarine had also fallen into the Red Sea for Egypt. At that time there were also more than 40 people on board, and six of them died in the accident.
