Warning shots fired – wild chase after burglary tour

Date:

A roadblock was broken and there was also a collision with a service vehicle – while fleeing towards Jennersdorf in Burgenland, the police stopped three suspected burglars. An officer had to fire warning shots with a service weapon to prevent the Hungarian suspects from escaping.

The Hungarians had already attracted attention the night before their tour through Eastern Styria and Southern Burgenland. Officers from a civilian patrol had been monitoring the suspicious car of the two men and their accomplice for a while as there had been an increase in break-ins in the border area recently.

Alarm bells went off when the same car resurfaced the next night and was spotted again by a civilian patrol. Colleagues immediately set up a roadblock to stop the car and take a good look.

But the trio, apparently on their way home after a break-in, couldn’t even be stopped by a roadblock and ran on toward Jennersdorf. A wild chase began.

thrown to the police car
To prevent the officers from overtaking, the fugitives threw various objects at the service car and collided with the patrol car several times before they could be stopped.

“When the trio wanted to continue their flight on foot, the officers even had to fire two warning shots to prevent this,” it says. Two bicycles worth several thousand euros were found in the car. The handcuffs clicked for the three suspects – 22, 29 and 33 years old. They are suspected of committing further coups.
