According to residents, the first missing cat was in mid-July. Since then, cases have increased rapidly. A cat dragged itself back with a serious leg injury. An amputation was the only rescue, a congener was much less lucky. She did not survive the emergency surgery. A piece of metal was removed from her body. “It is currently being investigated whether they are ammunition fragments,” a police officer cannot rule out a gunshot wound. There are now about a dozen other missing cats in the village.
Police ask for help
The detectives are still in the dark. “We don’t know if the stranger is attacking cats directly or if they fall into illegal traps targeting martens, for example,” it says. In any case, the police are asking potential owners of other victims to contact the Ladendorf office at 059133-3271.
2000 euros for the decisive tip
In the meantime, the affected cat owners and the Mistelbach paw support team have also become active. Together they searched the place for traps, but nothing was found. In addition, a grab prize of 2000 euros was awarded: “We hope that the animal haters will be put to rest soon.”
