Previously provided with tips
The reports in the newspaper made Manfred Schöchl sit up. The shipbuilding expert has given the hobbyist tips several times since “Pani” started his “Lady Moorea” – he once even lent him a polyester machine so he could cover the hull.

“That’s crazy”
Now the two met again at the initiative of the “Krone”. Schöchl has been working in shipbuilding for 45 years. The professional whose shipyard in Mattsee builds around 100 ships per year. And Manfred Schöchl, the boat enthusiast, who once again supports the passionate boat builder “Pani” with tips. The two are soon talking to experts.

“Well, that’s crazy,” says Schöchl during his visit. “The boat looks great. The details, the execution, the love that goes into it. Not much is missing! A few little things here and there.” Schöchl sees the hobbyist “Pani” in the final phase of the work. He is quite enthusiastic about the sailboat, which is built for white waters.

It could be over by Tuesday
“Pani” wants to go to the South Pacific. He still hopes to finish his ship in the workshop so that he can finally leave. The dream threatens to shatter. The new owner, heir of the previous owner, does not want to let him continue working. He cannot rent a hall from his pension.

The race against time has begun. He has to leave the room next Tuesday. “I will never be able to find something new so quickly. “I just want to finish the ship – that will take a year and a half,” says the 81-year-old desperately, watching his dream sail away.
