A meeting focusing on the suffering of the people in the Gaza Strip has been taking place in the Volksgarten of Linz since 4 p.m. The event, which had been announced in advance as a pro-Palestinian demonstration, was sanctioned by the police and a large number of emergency services were on site.
The demo had been eagerly awaited for days, as it was the first of its kind in Upper Austria. Some media spoke in advance about a march of “Israel haters”. However, the police had described the organizers – private individuals – as moderate. There is no connection with the terrorist organization Hamas and anti-Semitism is rejected. The focus of the meeting should be on the suffering of the civilian population in the Gaza Strip.
Each participant checked
The start of the demo went quietly, about 600 people gathered in the Volksgarten – under the supervision of a large contingent of executives. The officials check each participant at the entrance to the Volksgarten. Police officers who know the language and the Office for the Protection of the Constitution are also monitoring the demonstration and are aware of questionable statements and violations.
