She’s a beautiful woman, but Caroline Quinn always has to make it clear to men that under no circumstances should they try to kiss her without asking. Because even an innocent fine could be their death sentence.
The 25-year-old American announced via TikTok that she suffers from Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). This means that their blood cells overreact to certain foods, odors and substances in the environment.
According to her, Quinn’s MCAS is so bad that she can only eat oats and a special, hypoallergenic nutritional powder. Any other food puts a Boston health center worker at risk of a potentially fatal allergic reaction.
According to Quinn, this could simply be caused by someone kissing her on the lips – if the other person has previously eaten something forbidden to her.
In her viral video, she explains the rule she must set for her complicated love life: “If you want to kiss me, you must not have eaten anything for at least three hours beforehand and you must also have brushed your teeth.”
However, if her lover has eaten anything containing nuts of any kind, sesame, mustard, shellfish or kiwi – “these contain my worst anaphylactic allergens” – he must stay away from Quinn for at least 24 hours.
Quinn reveals that she wasn’t diagnosed with MCAS until she was 18: “I suffered from severe food allergies as a child and teenager, but was otherwise healthy.
Only diagnosed after eight months
Then in 2017, she developed “a series of anaphylactic shock symptoms including severe shortness of breath, severe rash and fainting,” even though she wasn’t eating anything “I was previously allergic to.” It took eight months for a specialist to diagnose her with an incurable, life-threatening condition.
Dog and cat hair also pose a danger
The cheerful Caroline ignores the fact that it is dangerous for her to even go out: “If I come into contact with a dog or a cat, it can have major consequences. But that doesn’t stop me from going out.”
She currently has a boyfriend named Ryan who strictly follows her rules. “With men, I always knew quickly whether it was serious. All I had to do was tell them about my MCAS and they usually left right away.”
