A Red Cross car suddenly crashed into a bridge pillar and landed on an embankment while transporting patients in Upper Austria. The patient, who was actually on his way home, was seriously injured. The two paramedics also had to go to the hospital.
Serious and unusual accident involving a Red Cross vehicle in Ramsau near Molln! For reasons that are still unclear, the driver of the ambulance suddenly crashed into a bridge pillar while transporting an ambulance on Thursday. The car was badly damaged and the patient, who was to be taken home from the hospital, was seriously injured – he had to be taken to the Steyr clinic by another ambulance.
24 million kilometers per year
The two paramedics, including a civil servant, were also injured and were quickly taken to hospital in Kirchdorf. The Red Cross is shocked by the accident. In principle, very little would happen with the hundreds of trips per day throughout the state.
Over the course of a year, 24 million kilometers are covered on the road: “Our drivers also receive driving safety training at the ÖAMTC to be prepared for all eventualities,” says press spokesman Christian Hartl.
