The series of bomb threats against Austrian train stations continues: On Thursday evening, two train stations in Innsbruck – including the main station – had to be evacuated by the police and a search was made for explosives. As in all other cases, it soon became clear.
Graz, Linz, Salzburg, Klagenfurt, St. Pölten and Bregenz – the police have been constantly monitoring train stations in many parts of Austria for days.
The threat came again via email
There was a seventh bomb threat on Thursday evening. Affected: two train stations in Innsbruck. “After a bomb threat via email, the central station and the western train station were searched in the evening hours by police officers and explosive detection dogs who had knowledge of explosives,” the director reported on Friday.
State security has started an investigation
After the search the all-clear was given. “No explosives were found,” police said. The Tyrolean State Office for State Security and Combating Extremism has started the investigation.
Probably the same perpetrator at work
The series of bomb threats continues to keep investigators in the affected states on their toes. The pattern has always been the same: the state police of the state in question receive threats that explosives have been planted at train stations – all of which have been sent by email. According to the investigating authorities, it is probably the same perpetrator.
