Five injured car passengers, a dead horse and four destroyed vehicles – that is the frightening reaction after a tragic accident on the national highway in Lind ob Velden, Carinthia.
The emergency services saw a terrifying scene on the B83 in the Villach-Land district on Friday evening, shortly after 8 p.m. A completely demolished car lay about 15 meters from the road in an adjacent field, another damaged car 50 meters away – and in the middle a dead horse. Two more accident vehicles some distance away.
It turned out that all four carriages involved had previously collided with the horse for unknown reasons. According to police information, a total of five car occupants suffered injuries of an undetermined nature; they received first aid from the emergency doctors present and were eventually taken to the Villach State Hospital.
Investigations are underway
While the volunteer fire brigade dealt with the accident vehicles and the dead animal, the police started the investigation. It is still completely unclear how these tragic collisions with the horse could have happened.
