An Airbus 321neo of the Hungarian airline WizzAir took off from Salzburg airport a little late this Saturday at 4:20 p.m. The destination was London Luton Airport. But the plane ran into turbulence, to the annoyance and frustration of the nearly 230 passengers.
When the WizzAir plane reached the British Isles, the turbulence began. The reason was a violent storm that hit the Greater London region. It became uncomfortable for the almost 230 passengers, including the ‘Krone’ readers: people were said to have screamed because of the violent gusts of wind, according to angry prisoners.
Salzburger: “I’ve never had a flight like this before”
The plane circled above the British capital several times, but was unable to land due to weather conditions. After an hour and a half the pilot turned around and decided to land at Birmingham Airport. “I don’t understand why the flight even started under these conditions,” asks Klaus Wienroither, one of the passengers. The Salzburg resident often flies this route because his daughter lives in London: “But I’ve never had a flight like this before.”
Emergency landing in Birmingham
The Airbus landed in Birmingham at around 7.15pm with a delay of around two hours. It took another two hours for the passengers to leave the plane. According to the readers of “Krone”, the airport staff is working on a transport to London. It is doubtful whether this will still be the case today.
