Because a forestry worker suffered a medical emergency, dozens of emergency services had to divert to difficult terrain on Saturday.
It was exactly 1:53 p.m. when the St. Ilgen, Etmissl and Thörl fire brigades (Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district in Upper Styria) were called to rescue people. In the St. Ilgen area, a forestry worker had serious health problems.
30 firefighters rushed out
His two colleagues had started the rescue chain. A total of 30 firefighters made their way into the snow-covered forest and provided first aid.
The crew of the Christophorus 17 rescue helicopter, stationed in St. Michael, took over the next steps. The patient was flown out of the impassable, steep terrain with a rope and taken to the LKH Bruck for further medical care.
Another forestry accident in Bad Waltersdorf
Also on Saturday afternoon, a man had an accident during forestry work in Bad Waltersdorf. The accident took place in a forest in the Hohenbrugg district and the man injured his lower limbs. The Red Cross and the fire brigade responded and the injured man was taken to the ambulance in a basket stretcher and then taken to hospital.
