In Bavaria, a truck carrying cheese and toast overturned on the A8 motorway near Bernau am Chiemsee in the Rosenheim district on Saturday evening. Parts of the tasty cargo were scattered across the road.
According to police, the driver was driving towards Salzburg in the early morning hours when he lost control of the vehicle on the Bernauer Berg for an initially unknown reason. The truck crashed into the center barrier, then overturned to the side and blocked the left and center lanes of the A8 towards Salzburg.
The fire brigade cordoned off the accident scene and provided first aid to the driver until emergency services arrived. Fuel leaking from the truck – some containing cartons of cheese (see the Facebook post below) – was collected and tied up to prevent it from seeping into the ground.
Truck driver was slightly injured
According to police, the 48-year-old truck driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital. There was an estimated damage of approximately 200,000 euros. Reloading the cargo took several hours.
