A small plane crashed over a populated area in Savannah, Georgia on Sunday evening – landing in front of the front door of a single-family home. The pilot was killed and a passenger survived the accident with minor injuries.
The plane was a 1964 Cessna 336. According to the Flight Aware platform, it was traveling from Miami to Savannah – that’s a distance of 450 miles as the crow flies.
No injuries on the ground
Shortly before 10 p.m. local time, rescuers were informed of the small plane’s crash. When firefighters arrived on scene, the pilot and passenger were found trapped in the aircraft and found in the wreckage. Emergency services “worked with great urgency to free the patients and take them to a hospital,” authorities said. No one was injured on the ground.
