The Railway Engineers’ Union (SEMAF) met this Wednesday, from 07:00 to 09:00 and from 19:00 to 21:00, to the 200 drivers of Metro Bilbao to support strikes for the safety and professionalization of services.
As reported by SEMAF, the strikes will be repeated on Friday, July 1, from 7am to 9am and from 7pm to 9pm; on Thursday 7, Friday 8 and Saturday 9 July, from 7 pm to 9 pm; and on Wednesday, July 13 and Friday, July 15 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
In a statement, the union denounces the “frivolity with security as company wants different categories to run trains” “The drivers ask Metro Bilbao to flee from the ‘Low Cost’ model, in favor of professionalization, recognition of their responsibilities, definition of their powers, rights and obligations,” he added.
“If we want Metro Bilbao to become a modern, professional and safe railway, the company must include a chapter in its regulations that measures for a continuous professionalization of the group, the recognition of their responsibilities and the definition of the skills, rights and obligations of train drivers,” he stated.
